What is the day and time for the tutorial? Thursdays from 2:50-3:50 and by appointment
How do I attend the tutorial? For Thursday afternoon tutorials, there is a standing Zoom tutorial link in the important information section of our Google Classroom. For tutorials by appointment,I will text and email a Zoom code.
How will I be notified of new assignments? How do I submit assignments? You will learn of new assignments in 3 ways:through verbal reminders, postings on Google Classroom, and Remind text messages.
How do I submit assignments?You will submit assignments on Google Classroom. If the assignment is handwritten, you will need to take a clear photo of it OR scan it and upload it to Google Classroom.
Do I need to come to your Zoom class every day? Do I have to stay in the Zoom for the entire time? Yes, you need to come each day - just as you would when we are physically in school. I will be online through Zoom during most or all of the class period. You will be connected to Zoom during the entire class period but will have some quiet writing time near the beginning and end of each class where you will work on your own. Sometimes you will also work with your classmates in breakout rooms/
Can teachers mark my assignments late/missing? Yes, the pattern of marking late or missing assignments is just like when we are physically together in school.
Is there a late work penalty (20% off)? Yes
What are the hard deadlines for late or missing assignments? First Semester: Deadline 9/21 for assignments from 8/24-9/18, Deadline 10/14 for assignments from 9/21-10/9, Deadline 11/16 for assignments from 10/14-11/13, Deadline 1/5 for assignments from 11/16-12/18
How will attendance be taken? During the first 10-15 minutes of class by Zoom presence roll-call. Just as it is when we are physically in class.
Will there be midterms and final exams? Yes, there will be a final exam the schedule for which TBD.
Do I have to have my camera on? Mostly, yes (at the beginning and end, during discussions, in breakout rooms) sometimes no (during lectures, during document analysis writing)
How do I contact the Ms. Van Atta? Through Google classroom, Remind texts, email. All will be posted in Google Classroom in the Important Information section and all will be communicated to students before the first class.
What should I do if I am having technical difficulties and miss class? The class will be recorded and the recording will be posted on Google Classroom that day. You can also get in touch with me if you have any questions!

What happens if I am absent? You can make up the work immediately when you return. This semester will move very quickly and you do not want you to fall behind!
How will we know how to access online classes? Where will the link be? I will contact you by email and/or phone before the first day of class.
What should I do if I’m feeling sad, disconnected from people or anxious? Please text me to let me know. I will then call you and we can talk about it. You are not alone and I can help!
